ANNAPOLIS, Md. -
After four weeks of non-conference action, the Navy baseball team will kick off the Patriot League portion of its 2018 season with a four-game series at Bucknell University. A matchup of the top-two teams in the 2018 Patriot League Preseason Poll will see the teams play doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday starting at 12 noon at Bucknell's Depew Field. The doubleheaders will start with a seven-inning regulation game one before game two is scheduled to go nine.

The Mids (14-4) and Bison (3-11) met six times in 2017 with each team winning three games, though two Bucknell's wins came in a 2-0 series sweep of Navy in the Patriot League Semifinals.

Bucknell will stream Sunday's doubleheader on the Patriot League Network.

This Past Week
Beginning with a three-game weekend home series versus Rider, the Mids won all five games that they have played over the past seven days ... Navy defeated Rider in consecutive games 10-4, 5-3 and 4-3 to sweep the series ... During the mid-week, the Mids went on the road to Maryland Eastern Shore and took a 13-6 win on Wednesday before coming back 24 hours later with an emphatic 23-5 victory at Delaware State on Thursday.

As a team, Navy hit .360 with 55 runs scored, 12 doubles, four triples, one home run and 48 RBIs, while posting a .453 on-base percentage ... On the mound, the Mids' pitching staff registered a 2.54 ERA over 46.0 innings with 49 hits, 21 runs (13 earned), 19 walks and 44 strikeouts, while their opponents hit .269 for the week.

17 position players and 14 pitchers appeared in contests for the Mids over the past five games.

Individually, eight different Mids (with eight or more at bats) had batting averages of .300 or better ... Stephen Born (.500, 8 R, 11 H, 2 3B, 7 RBI, 2 SB), Zach Biggers (.435, 5 R, 10 H, 2 2B, 4 RBI), Christian Hodge (.421, 6 R, 8 H, 3 2B, 8 RBI) and Jacob Williamson (.400, 7 R, 8 H, 2 2B, 1 3B, 7 RBI) led the way on offense ... Pitching-wise, RHP Nicholas Elder (1-0. 0.00 ERA, 6.0 IP, 4 H, 2 UER, 1 BB, 3 K), RHP Jared Leins (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 3.1 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 7 K), RHP Noah Song (1.50 ERA, 6.0 IP, 7 H, 2 R/1 ER, 2 BB, 8 K) and RHP Sean Kamhoot (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 5.2 IP, 5 H, 3 R/1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K) highlighted the strong statline put together by the Mids' staff.

Navy vs. Bucknell
The Midshipmen are 79-70-1 all-time versus the Bison in a series that dates back to 1904 ... Navy is currently on a two-game losing streak against Bucknell.

In game one of last year's Patriot League semifinal series, a pitchers' duel between Noah Song and Connor Van Hoose went down to the end as the contest was scoreless into the seventh inning before Stephen Born gave the Mids a brief 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly ... The Bison responded in the top of the eighth with four runs in the 4-1 victory. Song's final line was 7.0+ innings, eight hits, no walks and two runs allowed with seven strikeouts.

Game two of the semis saw a similiar script for Navy's offense as the potent attack was subdued by a Bucknell pitcher as Mike Castellani threw a complete game three-hit shutout ... The Bison led 2-0 through six innings before adding three insurance runs down the stretch.
